Graphic Packaging Announces Proposal for New Warehouse Project

On December 12, 2024, Graphic Packaging International will present plans to Kalamazoo’s zoning board to build a state-of-the-art warehouse at the corner of North Pitcher and East Prouty streets. The site is currently used as a parking lot adjacent to our carton facility and across from our recycled paperboard mill. We are excited for the opportunity to invest in a project that will benefit our customers, the community and our employees.

One key element of this project is to consolidate four warehouses currently scattered throughout the area into one centralized facility. This consolidation will reduce truck traffic in nearby neighborhoods while making our operations more efficient and contributing to a reduction in our overall carbon footprint. The warehouse will use advanced automation technology to transport materials safely and efficiently, thus minimizing our reliance on forklifts and further enhancing worker safety. Importantly, the new facility will provide a buffer between our property and the residential area on North Edward St. We are also planning landscaping which will improve the area’s aesthetics, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the communities where we live and work.

We are excited to work with the City of Kalamazoo on this long-term project, which we anticipate will be completed in 2028. We will update the community throughout the course of this project.
